W8- Portfolio Showreel Development

WEEK 8

PRACTICAL

The week of developing the portfolio showreel, and the first version of the portfolio showreel commented by the lecturer, which said the music has to be improved.

PORTFOLIO SHOWREEL 



As a trailer and a advertisement for myself. The portfolios showreel has to be straightforward, easy to read and leads the audiences eyes flow to create the video. It's also play an important roles in website, because it's a key to decide whether the audiences want to explore more or not. The music that I've choose in this showreel allows me to do editing and transition according to the beats which is accurate with my website style. Moreover, as lecturer mentioned, I've also make a new thumbnails cover for the showreels that can let the audiences catch the key points at the first glances. With not much animation and just black for the background which can stand out the projects and also catch the audiences attention. 

LECTURE

CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS)

CMS is is used to control the production and editing of digital content. Web content management and enterprise content management are the two common uses for a CMS. it helps the people to create and modify the website content without the need of technical knowledge. 

WORDPRESS




WordPress is an open-source CMS that was initially designed for blogging but has since expanded to include traditional websites, mailing lists, forums, media galleries, membership sites, learning management systems, and online stores. It's popular among individuals without coding experience, making it suitable for students and beginners to create websites and blogs.

WORDPRESS THEME



A WordPress theme is a group of templates, code files, and stylesheets that alters the front-end look and feel of a WordPress website without changing the core WordPress programme. A page builder is included with some WordPress themes to facilitate simple editing and customisation.

After that, the lecturer shows the top 5 of the WordPress Theme that is minimal design. Which are Astra, Monochrome, OceanWP, Brisko, Opta, Remake. All of them are optimised a great performance.

FLIP PRESENTATION QUESTIONS

The week of our team to present the flip presentations. The 5 designers that we have chosen are Maroon Studio, Cubeevo, Walk Production and Corsiva Lab.



The local web designer studio that I've found and I like is Maroon Studio, which they are an interactive agency.


They are not just doing branding, advertisement and also logo design, they've also focuses on the web design, UI UX design for the gamification and etc.





The questions and the answers are:

1) For Maroon Studio, what is gamification/AR, give an example.



Gamification and AR is the game that can let the brand interact with the customers and the users when they wanted to buy something on the website and increase the engagement with the customers by creating games. They created a games for Watsons station in 2019. Which is to play the watsons game and get a chance to win RM 100,000.


2) For Cubeevo, what sets this company apart from others?


The style was unique and stand out. It provides many services in one projects. They not just only provide website design service, they are also provide packaging design, branding, poster design and etc. For me, their design style are different from the other 3 studios that have presented. It provides a very clean, tidy and japanese muji kind of style for their designs. Their website also impressed me for the first glance because of the user interface and the movement of the website.


3) Most of the studio present web services, how their website design inspires you guys?

Cubeevo is one of them that inspired me because as I mentioned their own website and also the website that they made for their clients were great and the UIUX were good for the websites. At the same time, they also provide many services aside from the website design services. The style that they've done were attractive. 



4) Out of the 4 studios, which one do you guys like the most?


Different with my teammate answer, the studio that I like the most out of the 4 studios is Corsiva Lab, because of it has many experiences on doing many famous brand's websites and their design services was awesome to cover and create many types of design for different categories of businesses. They have their own uniqueness on designing many website design.

W1-Website design fundamentals

WEEK 1 PRACTICAL During the first week practical, the lecturer was assigning us for the assignments that the students need to complete in the 14 weeks of the semester. Firstly, the students need to create a Pinterest board to shows the inspiration of the students from there for the assignments and create a blog page for the weekly journal for explaining the ideas that we get inspired by.  The images below are the styles that I get inspired by. Which they are all using a very interesting ways to create a creative designs by playing with contrast of the size of font, the font they are using are modern which is mostly Sans Serif and the simple but large subject matters (images) that can deliver the message directly and strong with the visuals.   I like the design of the UI and UX of them. W2- Logo Development

WEEK 2 PRACTICAL During the second week of the practical session, the lecturer brief about the part 1 of the assignment 1 which is related to create a logo. The first thing that the students need to do is to find references for the logo. To know that what they want to do and what visual message that they want to deliver to the viewers.  LOGO & LOGOTYPES The differences between logo and logotypes is that logo representing the simplified icons, visuals and symbol. While the logotypes is about text. It's about the full name of the logo, a kind of description that describe the logo. Everything that relates to "types" that means typography in design.
